What does the ISO setting mean on a digital camera? Is there a real sensor amplification to make it more sensitive to light or is it just a software flag?
Sensor sensitivity, somewhat similar to a gain setting on an amplifier.
It performs like what it say, just like the ISO rating for film, the higher you go the greater the sensitivity,noise/grain and the lower the colour fidelity.
