If still have warranty, go get it fixed and sell/trade it away after that.
If no more warranty, ask HP how much to get it fixed?
If too expensive, forget it.
If not so ex, get it fixed and sell/trade it away after that.

You can offer it for sale on the forums for cheap, be sure to state that it's non-functioning. Someone might just be interested at the right price.
