is flash adapter safe to play with?

i am looking for information of flash adapter for standard flash to use be used on my minolta A1. Coz wanna to get a economy (cheap) flash to play with.
Then come across this article.

is this mean that if i used some old flash on my digital cam via flash adapter, there is a possibility for mi to burn my cam?

the article is quite interesting. but as i am still consider as a newbie and not so technical minded, wish that some one can share the concept of strobe trigger voltage with mi.

Yes older flashes fires very high "trigger voltage" which can damage your camera. First check your camera spec what is the safe trigger level. I use canon which has trigger voltage of 6V (quite low). Buy flash that is within the spec of your camera. Safe to stick to same brand or dedicated models.

Thanks, but why old flash would generate such a high voltage?
Wouldnt it be dangerous for users, if the camera get short circuit?

Will decide after all my inhuman projects and tests are over... :dunno:
