Is 17-40mm a good lens?

I have few of the lenses discussed in this thread and I myself consider few others.

17-40 is a walk-around lens, good for FF and Cropped, IQ wise not so great. f/4 is a great limitation indoor.

16-35 is supposed to be a better lens. I was thinking of this lens but dropped bcoz of budget and settled for 17-40... which may not be a geed decision that I took.

Toki 11-16 - The best UWA lens for cropped body... can not be used for FF.

EFS 10-22 the closest UWA to Toki 11-16

EFS 17-55 - A great all-around lens for cropped.

24-70 -- FF equivalent of 17-55

IS in this range is completely useless to me and hence IS does not affect my decision.

so 17-40 is affordable together with good image quality?

What is "affordable" to you? Different people have different budgets...

Quality is RELATIVE

I used to think 17-40 a great lens but after using Toki 11-16... I have different opinion... having said that I was happy once upon a time with my Sigma 17-70.
