Just realised this.

The internal flash on my Nikon F601 takes shutter speed of 1/30sec to flash, while my external Emoblitz flash takes 1sec to flash.
Meaning, the shutter speed is faster when the internal flash is used as opposed to the external flash.

Y is this so? I thought an external flash is more powerful than the internal flash, thus a faster shutter speed should occur when using an external flash. But it seems to be the complete opposite in this case. :dunno:
Is it normal? Or izzit juz me?

Also, the IR on my external flash turns on, sometimes not. Wonder y.
Anybody with answers?
Thanx

did you enable slow sync flash? anyway, shutter speed doesn't exactly change due to the power of the flash as flash duration are typically 1/1000s or faster.

Did not enable slow flash leh. My fastest shutter speed 4 the internal flash is always 1/30sec.
& its still faster than my external. Wonder y.
