Interchangable lens among brands

Hi there was just wondering.....or i heard (not sure if its true) that only Canon have the option to buy some kind of adapter and be able to use NIKON lens minus the autofocus.... Is there such a thing or adapter?

Is there a adapter for nikon to use CANON mount lense?....manual focus the 85mm f1.2....that gonna be great right???

can some one invent the universal adapter!!!! best can auto focus among brands.

best liao... get sony body with internal vr... get all the lens without vr.....L lens and nikon gold ring etc...

yes, i know a few canon photographers are using nikon lenses... and yes, you lose the focusing ability. but havent heard of vice-versa one at the moment...

There are adapters to use minolta/sony/nikon/pentax/m42 lenses on pretty much all brands. But since the Canon lens mount has a larger-than-normal diameter, you won't easily find adapters to use canon lenses on other brands.

Then again, other brands have fantastic lenses, so no worries there.

The reason is not the larger diameter.

The reason is because Canon has a shorter flange to focal plane distance.

While you can always come up with adapters, having one which allows focusing to infinity is only possible if the cross adapted lens is can focus ( with a flange to focal plane distance ) greater than the EOS lens.

That is why for instance Canon EF lenses with a shorter flange focal plane distance of 44mm, cannot be fixed into the nikon body that has a flange focal plane distance of 46.5mm without some kind of optical correction assembly in the adapter, whereas conversely, you just need an F mount to EOS adapter that adds that 2.5mm to achieve infinity focus for the Nikon.

Likewise you have the longer flange to focal plane distance lenses such as Pentax K, Olympus OM, Leica R, M42 that adapts easily into the EOS mount.
