wah, seems like you guys are all experts in this already :p for me, i just got my SB900 in april, hardly got the chance to really use it, i only got into photography for 6 months... and is still very very much a newbie... very paiseh later meet up and i blur blur type =X

Don't worry lah, I was blur blur too...we have been there before....keep learning.

Ok. Leave the model to me.(I am not the model lar). I will look for one.
We will split the charge on that day based on the number of turn up.

Cool? ;)

I am fine with splitting the cost but just not sure if we will then have enough time to think and play around with the lighting configurations and still shoot the model. May be pressured into keep shooting the model and not really trying out ideas.

You have a point.

We can trial and error for 1 to 1.5 hrs and I will get the models to come after that trail and error session.

No model no kick :embrass:

Cool?

Hi all

I am thinking of organzing an outing to share on the wonders of using Nikon flashes.
An outing where we will go around places and setting the flashes (off-camera) for practice..
This Sat (13 Jun).

So If anyone interested, we can get this outing going
Please state camera type and flashes type so that we can plan what to do.

1.Xfathom69
D300, SB900,SB400

BTW what time and where is the place, is this indoor or outdoor. to really learn about CLS I suggest indoor as you could control the lighting. If it is outdoor mainly it become more a fill in lighting.

The time will be ard 4 pm to 6pm ,daylight
6-7 break time
7-9 Night shoot pm

Anyone is free to leave any time.

I am ok with the model as long as the someone take charge.
Moderators , please take note, I am not responsible for any profitting as a result of model.
Please state if you want model or not, pm lunas if interested.
1. Xfathom69 D300, SB900,SB400
2. simcher D90, SB900
3. Dan D300 SB900
4. Jack D700 SB 900 SB 800 (unable to confirm now)
5. Mezzotint - D300 SB800
6. lunas - D300, S5Pro, SB900, SB800, SB600 (model ok)
7. nmyfm - D90, SB900
8. Batavia - D300, SB800
9. Randius - D300, SB900

I think both indoor and outdoor will be fine.
I am thinking sharing the concept of mixed lighting(Ambient + flash) day and night

Sounds good. We can also make use of break to think of ideas.

Drats, I forgot I sent my camera and lens for servicing, dunno whether can make it this Saturday.

I suppose the outing will either be in morning or late afternoon?

So where will be the appropriate location for this CLS session? :)

I got a short list here for reference only:
1. Botanic Garden
2. Chinese Garden / Japanese Garden
3. Fort Canning Park
4. Central Mall area
5. Far East Square

I would opt for botanic garden or Fort Canning Park, cos never been there, seems to be a very popular place for shooting.

1. I would opt for Clarke Quay instead. Central and we are able to catch the twilight and night lights at that area. It's a safer option for all as we know the place well and know where to shoot.

2. TS please post the date, time and venue soon.

3. People pls PM me if you would like to have model. I would need a positive vote of more than 60% out of the total participants, otherwise no point if not much people shooting.

Central mall is fine.
It has indoor and outdoors
brick texture wall, temple, spiral staircase should be ok for us to try out our ideas

Mezzotint
You can show us your light painting with the building.:)

Haha... Then I will have to bring all my barang barang liao. Kidding... :)

OK I'm on for Central Mall location. I'll bring my light stands & stuff. Anyone got large light reflector, those 5-in-1 type? Good to use that, especially with the white diffuser with which we can do shoot-thru lighting.

Lunas, please count me in for the model shoot. Thanks. :)
