Try not to use flash.

If you are using nikon, 70-200mm f/2.8 VR is good.

In most of the sports event, the organiser had appointed official photograher. So, new birds or unauthorised photograhers are disallow to take any shot. Is there any place which I could visit ? :dunno:

It help you not to bring tripod ;) . VR will help vibration on camera because hand shake. For the subject movement, VR can't help.

Arto.

so how many subject-looking-at-his-opponent shots are u going to do if u shooting sports :bsmilie:
sport photography != capturing movement.... you gotta capture their expression as well (tired, excited... etc)

if you are stuck with the mindset of just capturing movement, then be it. :) happy shooting
