Hi , i would like to ask

i want to resize some jpeg images for print say like 8r, 10 by 15 and 16 by 20.

is it possible to use photoshop and change image size accordingly or need to crop the original file according to print size?

:D

for a 4R (4" x 6") print
your image size for good quality should be 1800 px x 1200 px

4" x 300 px = 1200 px
6" x 300 px = 1800 px

simple right?
so do the same for other sizes
whether or not need to crop depends on you

Erm.. but you know that cropping and resizing is something different?
Resizing: keep all content of the image, 'squeeze' it into smaller size
Cropping: cut off parts of the image so that the remaining part is of smaller size.

Decide what is necessary, Photoshop can do both.

yeah, thanks dude.

now, im clear that some image must be distorted if i must resize for certain print size... sianzzz

some paper size has different ratio, so you need to crop to the corresponded ratio before resizing, else image will be distorted.

eg, the ratio of 4R is 2:3, 10x15 is also 2:3, and 8x10, 16x20 are 4:5

another tip is remember to use bicubic smoother for enlarging and bicubic sharper for reduction.
