Does anyone has experience developing Lucky SHD 100 using Ilfotec DDX? What is the temperature and timing required?

Thanks.

DDX is the same as Tmax developer. So you can take it as a substitute and fine tune your times using the Tmax dev times as a guide.

Do you mean Tmax developer as in D-76? As this is my first time using this type of film and I also noticed the film itself feels a bit thinner than other types of B/W film I suspect I cannot go to temperature up to, say 27 deg, or shorten the timing.

Any findings or suggestion? Thanks.

No. Tmax developer is a developer specially made for Tmax films. But of course can use for others too.

Yes, the Lucky is thinner and lacks the anti halation layer, so gotta be careful when you handle it post developing.
Looking at the Massive Dev Chart, Lucky with Tmax dev is 9 mins at 20C. Perhaps you might want to try that and see how it goes.

Good luck!

Lucky company recommended developing in D-76 at 5min @ 20deg. As currently I am using DDX with additional stock-up I prefer to using this as my de facto developer. I guess I will need to experiment and starting out to find some co-relations between other developers closest to DDX against using it for the film for developing and fine tune as I go along. Agreed with you halation is an issue, need to take note on this. Thanks for your good info.

After doing some research on the info provided by difference developers and film types that co-relates to my DDX developer, my findings to develop my Lucky SHD 100 is:

27F @ 5mins (initially thought of 6min but considering of the soft film, an empirical guessing)

Next week going to develop it after running a roll in it and see the results like.

Why not a lower temperature? I'v developed it for 7 mins before and they came out fine.

Corrections, its 72F @ 5min.

I will see how the results, will try longer if necessary.
Did also considered going for 3.5min on higher but outcome will not be ideal.

hi,

let me share my experience with lucky b/w films since its also one of the first film that i used when i started in photog. cheap films, or rather say the cheapest b/w available, that gives good result. ive tried developing lucky with 3 kodak developer; hc100 tmax and d76. ive never tried in ddx though ive already used the ddx mainly for ilford films only. i feel that its more approriate to use them on the same brand of film.

i agree with excelsius suggestion to develop in lower temp. 20deg c. always refer to massive dev chart. data are already proven. few shots using lucky developed in diff developers.

lucky on tmax dev 1+4
13minutes 20deg

lucky on hc100 (dillution e)

Thanks for your input. But I will stick to my setups and see how the result is. But definitely modify accordingly on the next round if not ideal. Will post result here next time.

Btw, I really enjoy your B/W photos. Good tonality.

Nice.

But strange, inside the Lucky box it stated 5min @ 20deg for D76!

My first development on Lucky SHD 100; for DDX my settings are 3.5min @80F for the following:

I am not sure are any difference if I were to use 5min @ 69F ? (like contrast or tonality differences, etc.)

I am still a newbie in film developing, any more experience CS'er's imput is greatly appreciated.

Great tones man..the brownish cast from the HC-110 seems to be a bonus to me ;)

Tried it, and not much different from my previous setups (going to post the shots in RF forum). I guess it has something to do with the developer use. And the more I look at my previous rolls, hmm, I think I kinda like the "dreamy" look. As I am trying to achieve the vintage style and the look has quickly grow in me.

I noticed from your photos are more contrasty than mine, can I know what is your agitation sequence? As per Lucky's instruction it stated that the more you "stir" (I decipher as agitate) the more contrast you have. I guess your agitation process is more than mine.

I heard that it's more glowy when the film is pulled. Will try shooting it at ISO 50 someday.
