how to create panoramic?

hi all!

i only understand panoramic as it a stretch of a long picture. can any clear my doubts on how to achieve a pano pic? i currently own a DSLR, is it achievable?

panorama picture can be done in 3 ways or even more...
1) get a native 16:9 like LX2 and you can easily get a "panoramic" feel
2) take a few photos in sequence and stitch them
3) crop from your orginal dSLR 3:2 photo
