how about canon? any software to check shutter count?
You can try read the PreviewExtractor website whether your Canon camera is supported by PreviewExtractor. IIRC, most Nikon can use PreviewExtractor, and some Canon can use PreviewExtractor for reading shutter count. No harm to check, as PreviewExtractor is freeware anyway.

for pro bodies, you can use "Cancount" and its not free. you need to purchase a copy to use it. The trial version will not show you the shutter count.

thanks for sharing..

shutter count are not determine by the file numbering, is embed into the file, for Nikon cameras, can use a software to check the shutter count by reading the latest image file.

Hi, can you enlighten me on this matter .............when you have the camera shutter being replaced by NSC, does the shutter count reset back to "zero"? I realised that some resold 2 to 3 years old cameras in the 2nd hand market have unbelieveable low shuttle count eg less than 15K. I am not a very frequent photographer nor using the multi-frames shots for sports event, but already I can chalk up some 12K in 6mths !!:o

Thanks
WILLIAM

Found these by chance, just upload your pics into flickr and click on properties, all parameter about the pic will be shown including the shuttle count.

Try it !

Shutter count!

Not pics for all camera I believe. At least all Nikon dslr can. Canon only pro model.

actually the shutter will wear out faster if the user shoots machine gun mode
so shutter count is only a rough guide
it is better to know the user and what kind of pictures he shoots

actually the interest on photography or new cameras wear out faster than the shutter for many people..

that's why you sell many cameras selling off with low shutter counters.
