Yesterday, my A95 failed to startup with a set of fully charged batteries. Took out the mmc card and the A95 started without any problem. Thinking the mmc might be faulty, I changed to another brand and still cannot start. I've tried 4 different brands of mmc and all gives me the same problem.

Is the A95 the cause? This camera only 4 months old.

Any advice?

Are you sure you use the correct type of memory card ?
I think Canon A95 uses only type 1 CF card.

OMG

A95 only takes CF card not MMC.
Did you put the batteries the correct way?

how did you use the cam the past 4 months?

Tink he/she not sure wat is the type of card ba....

Tink u just bring the cam to canon service centre let them check since it is still under warranty.. :)

Yes. I'm using the correct type of mmc. Even with the supplied one from Canon.

Normal outdoor shooting as I'm a newbie in this :D I used this cam on my last oversea trip to Taiwan and all photos taken with any problem on my 512 CF card.

This is CF card

and this is MMC
http://www.eastgear.com/shop/index.php?cPath=19_24

These two cards are different and the manual specify that A95 uses CF card only. From my hands on experience with Canon products, they use CF or SD (see below)

CF card
-------
- Gx, A7x, A8x, A9x Powershot
- DSLRs

SD card
-------
- A5xx

No need to go down to Canon Service Centre, they will give you the same reply. BTW, Techmage is from Canon, he is the best person to check with.

Yeah, it's a CF card. I always get mixup between CF and MMC :D The batteries are correctly placed. Say, u from Canon? What's your view on this problem? Is the CF connector faulty or some other thingies?

No problem what. Under warranty right? Bring ir back to Canon and ask them to resolve it.
