Help - Difficult to choose - NEX-5 or C3?

Sort of decided on a Nex-5 because better grip, faster fps (useful for F1, IR remote, build .... So was having lunch at Sembawang and drop by L***y S***e and the deal for the NEX-5 with 18-55 lens is below $1k (very close too . The 18-200 alone is just above $1k. I was hoping to get NEX-5 with 18-200 (without the kit lens) but it's not available. Does anyone have a source for that.

Have you read the review on 18-200? Heard it is not as good as 18-55.
Also new 55-210 lens is coming (still rumor now, no official announcement yet), so you may want to consider this.

Oh, didn't know the 55-210 and will watch out for it. Was hoping for an "all-purpose" wide-to-tele lens so I can use it for holidays without having to bring/change lens. Is there a better alternative to the SEL18200? Appreciate some advice on this as the SEL18200 is really expensive and I don't want to make mistake here! My Panasonic 14-140 seems alright but the m43 sensor not great above ISO800 :-( Thanks.

NEX C3 has better image quality due to the newer sensor.

NEX 5 has better build, nicer grip.

Pretty much depends on what u feel is more important to you.

Was at SLQ earlier. Went around most of the shops carrying NEX-5. Those shops that quote good price (ard $1900 b/f GST for body, 18-55, 18-200 and 1 8GB SD) always "don't have stock" when I want to pay Those have stock is ard $2100/2200 b/f GST. Will try L***y S***e tomorrow after work and see if they "got stock or not" - but not too hopeful given today's SLQ experience.

If anyone know of a good place to get the NEX, appreciate if you could share or PM me. Thank you.

We have a whole list of recommended shops in our priceguide section... SLS shops are not on that list for a good reason...

There are some reviews on both lenses, then I compared them based on some aspect like distortion, flare/ghosting, sharpness at 18mm, etc, but can't compare the tele-end 55mm vs 200mm. Also mentioned that 200mm end looks slighly washed-out / low contrast.

So personally, I'd rather wait for 55-210mm or other lenses. 1855 is ok for walkaround, and I need something better for the 200mm tele.

All you need to do is open the 2 reviews from photozone.de side by side. Please use some common sense and logic to create your own comparison, opening 2 reviews from the same review site is a logical step. Don't be so lazy as to expect a review/comparison catered to your particular spoon-feeding needs, sometimes you have to use that gray matter between your ears...

If you can't image how a direct comparaison could differ from two reviews side by side, I wonder who really needs brain cells...

...Because they run the same tests on both lenses... Then you only need to know how to read and how to look at pictures to get an idea of how they compare...

be more courteous in here. with only 8 posts so far, you're acting as if everyone in here owes you the answer that you obviously didn't even bother to search for.

and yes. it IS common sense to open the reviews side-by-side. one more thing. you can also google or search for comparisons online. it doesn't mean that if someone said "hey, look for the review online" means you have to only search for reviews. you can also search for comparisons.
