I wish I had too... :D

So far i've written down a list of things to buy, these are basically the bare essentials that i think i'll need.

1) the Bythom.com D70 ebook
2) a UV filter for the 18-70
3) a cleaning kit
4) Spare battery

How much will a complete cleaning kit cost ? like for the CCD cleaning stuff + lens cleaning + large blower ? any recommendations on where i can buy these things ?

and also the UV filter, which is a good brand for me to buy ? So far i've heard of Hoya and B+W but the B+W seems a bit expensive :(

Probably gonna get the spare battery from Eastgear.

Any other bare essentials that I should get ?

Not sure you really need the spare battery for now. A fully charged battery is good enough for 700-1000 shots depending on how much you review, play around with focussing, using internal flash.

Are you really gonna use that up in one session of shooting ?

Bear in mind that a Li-ion battery roughly has a shelf life of around 2-3 years from manufacture. So if you're really not gonna use that second battery for a while - best to buy it later.

Hi Purebull,

Is the ebook about D70 good? How much did you pay for it?

Thanks for the advice, i think i'll hold off on the spare battery then, i don't even have a CF card that can hold 700+ shots :P

I haven't purchased the ebook yet, but a lot of people highly recommend it, it should cost US$30 including shipping i think

I think the cleaning kit cost 10 bucks. I am gg down to CP later to buy the blower. Hehe... I think that is about all I need. I am thinking of buying the D70 book too. Hmmm... But it costs US$39 (not 30) inclusive shipping, which is quite ex, I think.

US$39  if inclusive of shipping = SGD $70 :what:

What is US$39 compared to what you've paid for the D70 already? Besides, lots of ppl say this (and I agree) Thom's guide should have been the manual included with the D70 and not that barely adequate excuse Nikon calls a manual! :) I had a chance to browse a friends while I was at his place, and it was a VERY comprehensive piece of work.

If that's the case, maybe it's worth considering it ;)
Czech republic all the way !!- Show me the money :D :sweatsm:

I'm not sure yet. haha, but it looks like a book according to you guys here. But to buy it, and print it out 500 pages.... 100 bucks i estimated. Maybe 1 more month of tuition. :P

do u know if the page sizes is a4 ?
if so, 500 pages at a4 sized, would be thicker than my lecture notes

Not sure what the size is called, but definitely smaller than A4. You could compress and print out 2 pages per page (in landscape) and use double sided printing. That would only work out to 128 pages :D

hmm probably a5 ?
yeah i think thats a good size, coz it'll fit in most camera bags.
