Good DigiCam to intro?

[challenge]

Trying to pickup photography as a hobby but hv to start wif a good bugeted digicam cos still a NSF. Can anyone intro? My budget ard but hopefully less than $600. duno wat to get. Below are some camera i found on the web but have no idea hw much they are selling in local shop

Nikon
COOLPIX S1 - $699
COOLPIX 5900 - $599

Panasonic
Lumix DMC-FX9 - Duno hw much anyone care to enlighten me? :dunno:

Plus i tink canon quite popular too but no idea which is which.

if want pocket camera - Fuji F10 is good.

If want to do photography, I think can try Lumix FZ5 (cheep and good zoom)
