camera: nikon D90.
flash: none yet.

I purchased a wireless RF shutter remote with transmitter which plugs into side of camera.
Now if I buy a flash remote trigger, it'll plug into the horseshoe and the flash.
To trigger the shutter I still use the shutter remote right? Perhaps model dependant but generally shd still work?

Qn:
1. Is the above correct?
2. Will purchasing nikon flash simplify matters or still the same.SB-900 also no built-in RF wireless capabilty right?

Thks.

Thks Ortega,
but if the trigger is optical via camera flash, that means the unit must be placed rather close so that the onboard flash can activate it? limiting the creative possibilites?

eg, can it still trigger if flash back is facing camera since the sensors are in front?

if i am not wrong the sensors are at the side (at least on my SB800)
i have tried at around 10m and it still works

Deciding between nikon and 3rd party like Tumax since it has optical trigger as well..of course $$ is the consideration factor.

BTW, it's hotshoe, not horseshoes. Flashes aren't horses.
