you need to follow the instructions exactly. mine worked without issue. using windows

Before updating check out sonyalpharumours first. Read that this firmware update broke some lenses.

manage to update my FE28 and FE55 without issue. After clicking update, there is instructions on the camera itself which says 'remove battery to complete update'. Just follow
