Today at Heeren near the cross road, I saw this fat arse holding a Sony F717 and starting behaving suspiously when I keep looking at his camera.
Then I realised he was holding it against his belly and secretly snapping two young girls who happened to be standing beside me. Immediately I told the two girls that the fat ass was secretly taking their pictures without their permission. They immediately confronted the fat ass and yes he was scared shitless. They made him delete all the other pictures that were in his camera orelse we'll hand him over to the police. I felt really good after that. Really could not believe that he was such a dumbass holding such a big camera and secretly trying to take pictures of girls in orchard. He should try using a smaller camera next time. Anyway just don't bump into me or I'll weed you out. Yes I mean U! Don't let me catch any of you misusing yr cameras and violating individual's privacy. Though I'm not a policeman I won't hesitate to hand you over to the proper authority.

Really feel damn good man today. :D

Be careful you voyuerers out there! :nono:

Cheers,

The Good Samaritan

Good on ya dude ... It may look like a minor incident, but it takes courage to confront such weird/sick people

he didn't confront the fat arse, he "bun-knife" to the girls and let them do the confronting. ;p ;p ;p

i kinda wonder if the police can do something about people who secretly takes pictures of others. I don't remember it being a crime that the police can do something about. Vouyerism like taking pictures from certain vantage angles i.e. from below can possibly be interpreted to be outraging the modesty of women, but what can a camera at waist level do? Did he have those x-ray filters on? Were the girls sitting in any revealing way?

you are so wrong pal

the girls can claim that the guy was trying to taking pictures of them in an improper position and can seek his intention for taking their pictures in front of the police.

obviously the fat ass will lose out lor. Shame on him :blah:

now I'll try to weed out those vouyeurers in mrt trains.

Or imagine someone secretly snaps your gf or wife and start posting them on the net or even worst he can superimpose yr gf/wife pictures with pornography. That ain't nice right.

So what do you reckon now?

i dun see anything wrong with taking pix of strangers in public places secretly.
whether those pix are superimposed later are totally another different matter.

i think u are just being a busybody.

it's coward like you who allow such lewd and disgusting behaviour in this society

don't let the next unlucky fat ass be U!

:nono:

The fat ass is doing photography his own way.

From your account, there is nothing obscene in what he did.
unless he is shooting secretly upskirt or down blouse, there is nothing legally wrong in what he did. Perhaps he did it out of a fetish in snapping at girls.. but as long as he did not take photos in untoward angles.. he is clear of the law.

If he knows that he is doing nothing wrong, he should not even bother to delete those pictures and just walk away. But obviously he is not aware that of his legal

I heard of a photographer in the USA who enjoys shooting secretly. He will shoot like a roll a day of people in public by hiding his camera in his chestarea in a trenchcoat or coat and pressing the shutter using a shutter release. ANd he did this over the course of his lifetime. When he passed away suddenly, police found thousands of photos in his room. And these shots are of ordinary people caught unaware in the train, streets, shops.. and it became a good archive of people shots by the state.

Is what he did a crime? I don't think so.. it is a form of photography of ordinary life and ordinary people.

Has the fat ass commited a crime? Yes, if he hide the camera in a bag and shoot upskirt. That can be classified as voyeurism.

No, if all he wants is a cheap thrill of shooting people, girls, man, anybody in the streets in the way he likes... close, secret, images.

Perhaps the only crime he commited is a selfish satisfaction of his enjoyment of capturing images of unaware girls in the streets.

Perhaps the person who confronted the fat ass is also selfishly satisfying his own sense of public spiritedness and heroism.

i dun see it as a coward act,if u are afraid of pp taking pix of ur loved ones while on pulbic places, then dun go out lor,ask them to stay at home and close all windows.
if i ever let u see me taking photo of other pp in public places,i'm more than willing to wait for the police with u if u were to do ur self proclaimed heroic acts with me.

get a life..

for your info, this country ain't USA

well we can hand him over to the police and insist that he's one very perverted guy and suggest the police to search his house for he could be indulged with pornography and so on. That will surely nail him down for good.

So when you are holding the camera f717 on the street and someone come over and do the the above on you....eh....will it "surely nail you down?"

On the other hand, I agree with you this country ain't USA, try shooting some shots near our Bukit Timah area where some VIP stay and see if our police will bring you in base on ISA.

How do you differentiate between this and the Street Photography taken by clubsnappers ? If he had a DSLR and L lens and took pics of them from across the road will you still feel the same way about him ?

photography is about capturing images..
true here ain't the USA
but I am sure the USA, like Singapore, has laws to protect people from voyeurs who capture lewd/private images of people without their permission.

this is not about what are right laws or in what countries do these laws differ.

it is about photography in public done secretly or openly.

This fat ass did nothing wrong from what you wrote. If your account of his actions go against the laws or common sense of decency, then I will condemn him. There will not be a single reply that do not concur with your action. He is just doing photography secretly, and not crudely or obsenely. If what he did is wrong, then a lot of drivers can sue the LTA for their ERP/speed/traffic cameras as that is a hidden/intrusive photography, a bit far fetch.. but that is also photography.

But you have filled your replies with a big sense of public spiritedness at another photographer who obviously is not doing capturing any indecent images of the girls in public.

However, what did you is detrimental to photography. You are encouraging public apprenhensiveness of photographers.

Perhaps you really are like your nick Mr Big. You think too highly of yourself and your so-called public spiritness/heroism. And to feel good, you look for ways to make yourself feel good. And this time, you statisfy your "Mr Big happy feeling" at the expense of the fat ass who is doing some non-illegal photography of people in public.

And I am sorry you end off your last reply to me with your post of nailin him down and getting police to search his house for pornography. Come on, you are really Mr Big.

If he has to be searched, I think your house and computer needs to be searched as well. i bet you can share a cell with that fat ass as both of you are also going to be convicted of pornography in VCDs or computer.

MrBig, mind your bloody own business unless it is really wrong!!!!
And please dunk your BIG head into cold water so that it can contract as you are obviously having a BIG head from the girls who have become so thankful for being that hero in your very own bloated head.
