Please advise if what other equipment is needed?

Dear All,

profoto lights and an assistant

A sturdy tripod.

macro lens.

canon 100mm L lens, softbox, backdrop, diy flash diffusers,etc..

the macro experts in this forum shd be able to give more suggestions

Budget setup:
1)A tripod,
2)If you want close up shots then an extension tube might come in cheap and handy.
3) Good light source (either during day time by the window) or a off camera flash.
4) Some kind of diffuser for your flash (Some use softboxes, cheaper would be umbrella, even cheaper would be to bounce light through large white cardboards). Alternative can consider getting a product shoot tent?

5) Good to have cable relase or just use timer to reduce camera shake.

6) Some "props" for your food? E.g. nice looking plates, bowls, etc.

Basically a sturdy tripod and a light source (window light works, but you're at the mercy of the weather). Once you got your setup locked down, alot of the work is just plating and coordination, most dishes don't look good after sitting there for awhile. Of cos best if you have a food stylist at hand as well.

Let me add one more piece of hardware, 90mm Tilt/shift lens. From certain perspective, it gives your picture a certain edge. Try it and you will know :)

Oh, you might need a brush and oil. This is not for your camera. It is for some of the food dishes that you are shooting.
