Just wondering if experts out there know whether electronic drybox (e.g. Digi CAbi etc...) needs any maintainance or am I supposed to just let it sit there and happily suck all the moisture away as long as the meter shows that it is 'sucking' well?

I heard that there may be some 'foam' thing that is supposed to be changed. And if so, after how many years?

Just got myself a electronic digital dry box (after years of using Secondary school-boy method of dehumidifying my equipments i.e. silica gel, air-tight box etc...).

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

Now you also know how to give this advice to others...;)

I have an akurui cabinet for 4 years now. Basically, its on 24 hours, even when I am overseas for weeks. Have not done any maintenance yet. I just check the humidity level, and make sure its about 45%

Yeh maintenance free, have been using for more than 10 years liow.
Just plug in power and forget it.

I had mine running for 8 years already without maintenance

I have a two door "Toyo living" for 6 years housing my film slr and p&s.
I seldom open the doors, as seldom shoot film for quite some time.

Recently bring one point & shoot out, and it has dust on it. :(
Wonder how the dust can get into it. The seals are leaky??
Power is always on though...

I don't think the manual got stated much on the maintainance.
Internal I think no much need to be done.
Just wipe off the dust external expecially around the fins area on the cabi back.
