I had this lens and had sold it away as my 75-300 USM had the range covered. The 80-200 II focuses quite fast for me, sometimes even faster than the 75-300 USM.

Optical quality wise, I cant say much as I seldom use it, but it is a very light lens as compared to the 75-300mm.

I currently use a Sigma 70-300 f4-5.6 APO Macro Super. A good lens for an amateur like me at $330 from TCW.
