EF 50 f2.5 Compact Macro vs. EF 100 f2.8 USM macro

Anyone with experience on the compact macro and how it compares to the EF 100 in terms of quality and sharpness ?

I am thinking of getting the compact macro for its light weight but the working range might be a bit limited.

Any advice will be most appreciated. Thanks!! :think:

I find that the 100mm works much better for me. Seems sharper too. I think the difference in the weight is well worth it.

One thing to note with both lenses is that the 50mm is 1:2 ratio and the 100mm is 1:1 ratio

can also consider the Tamron 90mm f/2.8 macro which is lighter and cheaper than the 100mm f2/8 macro USM.

I'm using the Tamron 90 f2.8 macro. Like mpenza said, it is cheap and light with good quality too.
