personal preference might be to make the pictures slightly brighter (might make the colours come out more vibrant) and correct the white balance if possible as they sort of alter the actual colours of the food.

On my screen (laptop), the cake has no texture at all, just a mass of black. Not sure if it's a cake or a slab of chocolate in that sense. My personal preference is definitely to capture the texture of the cake interior.

Just curious what lens are you using? Seems like the DOF is there yet seems like it's not. :bsmilie: I'm learning how to take food shots too. Love how it turns out like a catalogue page! :)
