A DSLR functions in much the same way as an SLR, except that it's digital and no films are needed.
 

we do not call it analogue SLR,it is called film SLR.

In my opinion,

SLR refers to SLR camera that uses film, while DSLR (Digital SLR) refers to SLR camera that use CCD or CMOS processor, and that store those picture that you take into storage cards.
