DSLR for beginners

for a beginner, it'd be a little wired and confusing to follow the suggestions like "what are you gonna shoot?..think what you need and buy"
budget is the first thing to consider of course:)
like zac08 said, go out to a decent shop and "see & feel".
what they are called "entry level DSLRs", almost all of them regardless of the brandnames, are more or less capable of giving out nice pics if we had basic understanding of composition and exposure...even if we use full-auto mode:p
starting with rather cheap, "entry level" cam is a good thinking but when our learning curve grows, we may want to change our tool...to access to broader range of our needs..
so it'd be wise to take into account the "resale value" of your system in case you want to change/upgrade in future;)
cheers.
