I have a Compaq Presario 2800 laptop which I purchase 3 years ago with a Pentium 4 Mobile 1.4ghz chip, 512mb DDR ram, ATi Radeon 7500 32mb ddr video car and a 40gb fujitsu 5400rpm Harddisk. It still runs pretty well, it'll open a 10mb raw image in about 5s in PS CS2. But viewing RAW images on Nikon View is quite painful when it takes 5 seconds to open an image.
To be honest, I'm quite impressed by its performance despite being 3 years old now. I was thinking it would be good to increase performance.... thinking of upgrading to a 1gb ram, but I would have to chuck the 2 256DDR chips for 2 512 chips, which will be pricey. Do you think it'll make more sense to sell this off here in Australia and buy a computer when I get back, or do you think it'll still work splendidly with some upgrades ? Oh yes, for those who dont know me... I'm currently studying in australia, will finish this July.
