I think you better seek a qualified surgeon to do this.

Do you use manual functions with your DSLR and why?

use manual mode everytime when I shoot with flash (internal or external) in the evening/at night.
otherwise daytime shoot with flash + Aperture priority

reason - don't have steady hands to hand held with av mode at night

Yah, it is best. Nothing like a manual film camera. You can leave it in dry box for years.
Take it out and it works flawlessly. No fuss.

I do use manual mode for exposure adjustments. MF mainly for macro and portraits but sports I'll do with AI Servo.
