When I went there last time (abt a year ago) price of cam with Japanesse instruction is cheaper (as in all the instruction menu etc is in kanji) ... the export set (thats how they call Japanesse set with English menu/manual/etc) is actually more expensive ..
So IF you know how to read kanji (or willing to learn) I think buying camera/electronics in general will be cheaper .. not sure if this is still the case now ..
In general, nope, unless you know which shop to go to. I've been to Tokyo, and frankly, though they have tons of cool gadgets, the prices are mostly similar or even higher than Singapore.
That said, if you know any locals who are into digital cameras, they would most likely be able to point you to the cheaper shops. In that case, the prices should be slightly better than Singapore.
