I have a Gitzo 1227 which suits my height (I am 6ft exactly) but I am thinking of getting a 1028 as well because I hate carrying my 1227 when I go trekking.
try the manfrotto 055 or 058 series. 055 series height w/o centre column extended is 53 inches, and 69 inch with column extended, weighs around 2.5kg. 058 series goes to 75.2 inches with out centre column extended and weighs around 6 kg.
