Difficulty removing film from M3

Hi guys just wondering if I could get some help. I have a SS M3 and I have difficulties removing the film canister after I have rewinded the film. Exteriorly, there is no dents and the canister is easy to install. Somehow it doesn't just fall out when I'm done. I have to use a pair of tweezers to pull it out. Wondering what I should do in a situation like this?

Hi JG, no pictures but just saw that the canister has a scratch on the side from pulling it out. It does drop a bit but it's like gets stuck. Does the 2 red dots on the rewind knob be in a certain position and if different canisters come in different widths?

no need for the dots to be in a certain position. what film did you use?

Look at the pic of the M3 with the base plate off. There is a small bit sticking out into the film compartment. The small bit might be responsible. Your problem is strange, I have never heard of anyone with that kind of problem before.

Maybe I'm not loading the film correctly?

Modern 135 format film dont fit so well ... try the custom trimmer to get the film leader to size

The M series do not need any trimming of film leaders, this is only applicable to the Leica IIIs etc.
