I am very Happy to hear that there is certain hope for better treatments! And have patience, TMC may work slowly but surely.........Let us know!

Hopefully it works. If it works, it would truly benefit the community.

First update on his progress.

Last nite, he took his first dosage - 1 satchet of powder mixed with 1 cup of water. - 4 teaspoon of powder mixed with 1 cup of water, 5 green coloured pills and 1 capsule. The satchet was bitter and smelly and he had problems completing it.

I applied the new cream which I believed is menthol based. When I applied, it was painful and he cried in pain. However, according to him, it was not itchy at all for quite some time. In fact, he could sleep immediately without scratching which was quite unusual (and good). I know his pattern of behaviour as I have been sleeping in his room with him for the last whole week to watch over him.

This morning on inspection of his body, his skin is dry but finally a day when I dun see anymore inflamation. Just dry skin. For the last few months, he would wake up everyday with rawness and redness all round his body. The redness was due to inflamation and swelling. Shd have taken the photo and show u all. His face today seems normal other than dry skin. No more red patches all over. Will update you all for tomorrow.

Wow! It works so fast? I am very happy to hear he doesn't scratch anymore so the condition may get better soon! Very hopeful! Great man!!!

Yup so fast. I was also so surprised by the results. He is drinking his medicine at the moment. Take very long to drink as the powder form is terrible to swallow. I asked him which part of the body is itchy, he said now only limited to a small area on his legs (usually the whole body itched from head to toe). I applied the cream just now and it no longer stings. Last night he was crying loud and tears streaking down his face due to the pain. I believe that the skin is recovering now and hence dun feel the pain. However, his neck which i did not apply last night is still feeling the pain when i applied it just now. I am taking baby steps. But it is positive result at the moment. A great relief and thanks to the recommendation given.

Hi Ihsan,

Happy to hear that your son is on the road to recovery. Hopefully things will turn out better in 2008, for you, your son and your family.

Would like to show how serious his condition is. Two shots of his bed when he wakes up every morning.

This was a shot of today. Hopefully, it will lessen. There are no rawness and red patches on his body and legs today. In fact, the cream seems to retain his moisture more effectively than any other cream I used before. It has been 4 hours since the last application and when i touch the skin, it is more moist relatively. Usually very very dry.

I find it quiute strange that it works fast. Usually TCM works slowly. My suspect is that the medicine he is taking reduces the toxin in his blood although the doctor refused to be explicit. According to what I understand from readings is that the toxic in the blood has no proper outlet and hence it came out from the skin. The skin's condition as what someone points out correctly is only a sympton.

Did you ask the doctor whether there are any steroids in the medication? Steroids work like a magic bullet but it does not cure the condition and will worsen it in the long run. Better check with him. Believe me, you do not want to take steroids. Just do a Google on the side effects of steroids and you wont want to go anywhere near it. I am speaking from experience.

Did say that these are not steroids. If i interpret it correctly, he said it will recover within 1 month and the whole medication can stop. He told me that he will explain to me how his medication works during my next appt. In fact, he seems kind of proud when I mentioned how helpless my doctors were. He said that western medicine is only trying to treat the symptoms but not the cause whereas he is trying to break the internal cycle that is causing it.

By the way, he did say that his medication can be consumed together with the steroids if his specialists is administering it during the next medical appt.

Glad to see good things happening. All the best and may everything work out fine!

hmm picture brings back memories. I still air out my bed clothes in the sun/outside most days.

Have taken antihistamines (and have an emergency supply) when have not been able to sleep (scratching neck and face makes me feel sick).

Great to hear the doc's treatment is working. Sounds similar to the chinese doc I went to, although I took my treatment in pill form. Breaking the itch scratch cycle is the start. After the month, be aware that atopic eczema can come back so continue to take precautions, but hopefully it will not be as severe as before with proper skin care.

Hope to hear many more peaceful night sleep :)

I have 3 children and I feel with you as a parent. Allow me to pray for your child.

Just to share, be mindful that all medicines work through our system. So you have to remain vigilant to observe and detect any side effects as his condition improves.

You know what?

Its been awhile since I last popped in to look around and this thread is a welcome change to how some other threads are.

Ihsan, I am very pleased for both yourself and your son. It must have been heart wrenching to see your own blood in such pain and discomfort.

Nonetheless, to everyone else who have contributed in one way or another, thank you for the encouragement as well as the unselfish sharing of information.

This truly highlights much good this community can do. :)

Its a good way to start the new year. :)

Now, I get minor eczema nowadays, but when they appear, I just tell myself relax, nothing to worry about as you had conquered it once. For me, I think the MAIN trigger was stress, psychological.

i also suffer from serious eczema, i have learnt to control it after obvious how it was triggered. Little or no medicine for mths can prevent it from coming up. But stress is a bad trigger factor which in this case i will agree with wind30.

hi Ihsan

Remember, long term steriod treatment will thin the skin, which is the cause of your son shierving at night, because he is cold. I under heavy steriod treatment at times but sometimes i tell the doc just give me normal medicine will do. or i just get a good cream to apply little bit.

Let your son bath luke warm water, he will tell u that he prefer hot water cause it very comfortable, but it will trigger more ezcema. Cold water is best, but cold water makes him colder and he will not like it. Go for luke warm water. not good but better then nothing.

I believe his skin is super dry with no moisture?

His condition is having some trigger factor, you got to find it out.

Thank you everyone for the concern. It is moral support given and i greatly appreciate it. He just went for his specialist treatment again and has been hospitalised due to his severe skin condition. Has been given steroid and antibiotics.

Doctor said it was kind of severe but I told the doctor that it was much much worse before the TCM treatment. So u all can imagine how it was like before that. Now due to hospitalisation have to stop the TCM medication.

The doctors are suspecting that his shivering could be due to bacterial infection that has gone into his blood stream via his various open wounds. Cannot be sure until later. But after administering antibiotics, the shivering seems to have stoppedm last nite. Will keep everybody posted and I thank everybody for your moral support. Deeply appreciated.

I believe that stress is one factor. The stress of going to school to be ridicule by his friends. To be a staring factor for others in the public. That seems to be the greatest stress he is going thru.

hope your son has a speedy recovery.
