No wonder haha... guess the orange headed thrush don't move much and you have a solid tripod.

Actually the thrush is resting as you can see it is standing on 1 leg, there are not much wind as the bird is inside the bushes. I would not say i got a solid tripod, there are still better one. Just that I know my gear well... hahaha...

Spend more time with the birds, observe their behaviour. Always maintain a distance that they feels comfortable with you as in they will not fly off, therefore long lens is needed for sure. Make minimum movement, if you need to move, move slowly, keep quiet and keep low. Do you believe me that I have spend at least 2 days, 8 hours each day just to get this kind of photo.

A lot of people do not understand this, when they see birds, they just charge like the cavalry army.

haha...thxs for the tip. on top of what you gave in tips, amongst all, i think the main thing of taking birds are patience, patience n patience........but in the end, i think it's quite relaxing as well. do u frequent sungei buloh for these type of pics?

Nope, this one is not taken in Sungei Buloh. However, there are birds there in Sungei Buloh. There are still other places where you can find birds like Chinese Garden, Bishan Park, Pasir Ris Park, Singapore Botanic Garden.... etc...

Any ideas how to link flickr photo in here?

then after we take the pics of the birds, how do we know what its name? are there any online software recognition for birds species?

I do not have pc with me to confirm, but I supposed you can right click on the picture and select property. There should be link to .jpeg file. Copy and paste it in.

reference with a book called Birds of south east asia by Craig Robson. A favourite book for all birders and bird photographers.

I was at Fraser Hill in Malaysia a while back and saw a parent with their 2 boys (10-14 years old). Father and 2 son each holding a Nikon camera will huge tele lens. The kids enthusiasm and knowledge impressed me as they seem to know scientific name of the birds they came across, without reference to any book.
