Of course, to protect yourself and ensure that the terms and conditions and understanding between parties are all clear, at least from your perspective. There are many templates out there. You should actually take some time to read up and come up with a invoice of your own after understanding the various terms involved.

I have some questions on the photography business. Would be glad if someone could enlighten me.
1) What is the size of digital photos a photographer sells to his client? (I reckon they dont give the actual size?)
2) Who holds the copyright of the photos after they're being sold to the client? Once photos are sold to clients, is the photographer allow to keep copies of the photos (as part of their portfolio) ?
3) How are digital photos pass on to clients normally? Burn to cd? thumbdrive? email?
4) With an online portfolio, how to prevent people from copying the photos (via right click save) ? Read somewhere before that it's not a nice gesture to do that as it will result in lower traffic to the site. Is it really so?
5) What are the rights of a photographer? Does the photographer has the right to make any changes once photos have been delivered to clients?
Would really appreicate if someone could enlighten me.

once anyone can view your photos on their computers, your photos ALREADY inside their computer, they don't have do any right click save, all they need is to know where to find your photos in their computers.
in short, there is no way to prevent people from copy your photos,
so scared? keep it off line lar.

if you just want to gain some experience of shooting events, make a couple of bucks to cover your very expensive photography hobby,
don't have to think so hard and so much, just go ahead and have fun, most people won't last that long, they need a lots of "passion" to drive on.
but if you plan to do it as a career, you need to understand you will need to spend 80% of your efforts on business side, only 20% on the photography part,
although in any photography business, photographers only spend 20% of his time and energy on photography part,
before you go on any further, ask yourself are you consider yourself as a competent photographer to take any amount from your customers for offering your services?
why did I ask this?
because when you are in photography business, you don't have enough time and energy to take care a house with weak foundation (your photography) and the roof is leaking (no customers, no assignments, no cash) at the same time.

can you be specific on your question?
the copyright thingy has noting to do with sizes, is the ownership of image, either you own it or don't.
In biz, You sell it at as high as possible that you can part with the image.
It is your choice...
