are you using on cam flash?

You can try using an off cam cord to position where u want your light to come from and a diffuser that would give u softer light i guess.

i use Ring Flash (Metz), maybe need to adjust flash exposure from 'in camera'. maybe try cover flash with tissue paper.

u forget one simple trick i taught them during our shoot at SBG...

no experience with the metz ring flash.
