compact & lightweight PS to recommend?

My dad is thinking of replacing the old aging Canon S45 I gave him.
he wants a smaller lighter P&S.
I think set aside a budget of $500.
Any good recommendation from u guys?

F31 is $500, canon ixus depends on which one. The 850IS and 900IS can be quite expensive at about $6-700, simpler models without IS like the ixus 70 are much smaller and cheaper at about $500 too.... so it really depends on what your dad is looking for. I would go with the F31 or ixus 70 based on whether you need high iso capabilities vs size...

F31 looks good but does seem a little bit bigger than the thin and sleek ixus.
Any idea how much is the Nikon S like S50? also is it good? seldom see reviews on nikon compact cams

My friends got the Fuji Film and the highest ISO is great!
