I would like to purchase a compact camera for my Taiwan trip next week.
Initially, wanted to buy Canon S95, but seems like the replacement model will be coming out soon. & seems like S95 is not really good for far distance.

Any anyone recommand a suitable one for travelling? I do not want to spend too much on it as I want to buy a DSLR in the near future.

Lastly, will it be cheaper if i buy at the Singapore airport before departure?

I don't exactly know the range of compacts but the Canon G12, and one/two more models in the powershot range can zoom pretty far. The Nikon P7000 has a focal length of 28-300mm too.

FYI, the HX9V is a seriously powerful camera with built-in GPS, etc. Read some of the reviews, it's like a perfect travel compact cam.
