Color Temp for White Balancing

Any advice on tuning the white balance with color temp.? I've never come across with my previous camera.

If you want the shot to look colder then lower the temperature, if you want to give the shot a warmer feel than boost the temperature. I usually use a temperature of around 4900 kelvin for shots, and then adjust up or down from there depending on what feel i want the image to have.
