CA comes in different types, green, blue, red and yes, purple too.
PF is the same as CA, just more specific and most common.

Strictly speaking, chromatic aberration and purple fringing are not really the same.
Chromatic aberration is caused by the lens not focusing different wavelengths of light at the same position or something like that. One of the symptoms is purple fringing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chromatic_aberration
To be fair, let's agree that the full and complete answer (or a good way towards it) is what we should be passing on as Convoy has, but with a comment that the nett result is indeed "a screwed up image" e.g. "blurriness" in the zoomed out image.
People may well be interested in the technical aspects of these 2 terms which could in turn help to troubleshoot sensor issues instead of blaming the lens (and spending a fortune on Ls/Nikkors...) or the conditions and restricting opportunities to shoot in contrasty situations.
