If you're in San Francisco and can find a few hours of time, consider visiting Chihuly's exhibit of glass sculptures at the de Young museum in Golden Gate Park. The exhibition is on until September 28.
Glass Forest #3. 20D, 24-105L @ 24mm, f/4, 1/15, ISO3200.
Reeds. 20D, 10-22mm @ 11mm, f/4, 1/40, ISO1600.
Float Boat. 20D, 10-22mm @ 12mm, f/4, 1/50, ISO1600.
Ikebana Boat. 20D, 10-22mm @ 18mm, f/4.5, 1/30, ISO1600.
The museum guards and other museum staff are the friendliest I've encountered - they seem genuinely happy to be working there and are glad to explain things to you. Photography is allowed, but no tripods obviously (tripping hazard).
The artist has lots more photos at his website. If anyone has visited Monterey Bay Aquarium and saw the glass jellyfish, he's the same guy.
