I've just aquired the Minolta X-700 SLR and it doesn't come with a flash unit.

I'm still pretty new to the SLR world and was wondering if all flash units out there are compatiable with the X-700. If not, would you guys recommend a cheap, light, portable and yet pretty sufficient flash unit for my SLR?

(Gonna use it for travelling)

up for this thread.
cos i need the answer too
:)

as minolta uses a non-standard shoe, you either have to get specific Minolta-mount flash or get an adaptor...

U can use any flash with a single pin, metz 32z1 for example. no apperture prio ,if u use any single pin or u can look for 2nd hand flash from minoltla

hmm... I was wrong. This one seems to use the standard shoe. So you should be able to use an auto flash (eg ~$36 Achiever 260T, ~$130 Vivitar 285HV, ~$170 Metz 32Z-1).
