Capturing eyes detail

Hi,

Thinking to expand my arsenal (D40 + Sigma 17-70 F2.8-4.5),
any advice which of the following options is better for Indoor portrait shoot with good eyes detail.


1: Sigma 17-70 F2.8-4.5 + SB600 + Diffuser
2: Sigma 30mm F1.4

primes are generally much better for portrait work.. and to capture finer details.. i'd say the 30mm f/1.4.. or if you have larger working space.. the 50mm or the 85mm f/1.8..

but if you mean general indoors (like covering an event or activity).. i'd say get a flash..
