Hi fellow ppl, im current having a budget of $2100.
Thinking of buying one of the 3 lenses below for walk about and casual event shots:

1. Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM
2. Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro
3. Tamaron AF 17-50mm F/2.8 XR Di II LD

Any of you have in possession and have any comments on the down side of these 3 lenses?
Canon is exp but good, but then i can save around $1k plus to get other stuffs if i get any of the other 2 lenses. Cant decide. Need help.

wow nice photos u have. Thanks.... boost my morale.

Anyway, saw a tokina AT-X 165 PRO DX 16-50mm f2.8 too.... ****... so many
But i already got a 10-22mm canon...but if shoot wedding no time to change lens?

I was actually thinking of any 17-70 lens but they are too slow for that

17-50 lens are not long enough

24-70 is too tight also.

The best solution, carry 2 cameras with you. Or sacrify the focusing speed and get 18-125/17-70

What about a 24-105 f/4 IS L? I've used it before on a 400D body and while it's not wide enough sometimes, I have gotten the shot 95% of the time.

if u shoot wedding, best to carry 2 bodies so u dun miss out anything...:)

For walk around lens you might want to consider 2 lens not one:

1. EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM (2nd hand about $1,400)

2. EF 70-200mm f/4L USM (2nd hand about $700-800)

Above two lens just fall into your budget and with your 10-22 all angle is covered.

Haha... Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L Non-IS USM? Woo.. heavy for walkaround xD

The 24-70mm f/2.8 and 24-105mm f/4 are probably the better ones out there for walkaround.

Get the sigma 24-70 f2.8 2nd hand for about $450. It's a good solid lens and a cheap way to know if the focal length is suitable for you before plonking down the cash for the canon one.

:bsmilie:So its Tamaron and canon with recommendation... hmmm.. thanks all..... might be getting lens next week... any more comments pls help suggest in too. :)

Oh ok.. sigma.... arghhhh...so many

Since ur budget is 2k,i suggest the Tamron 17-50mm + Canon EF 70-200mm F/4 L (F/2.8 cost im not sure)
