LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y. - June 6, 2002 - Canon U.S.A., Inc., a subsidiary of Canon Inc. (NYSE: CAJ), announces the newest and flagship camera to expand its line of PowerShot digital cameras with the introduction of the new PowerShot G3 model. Designed as a prosumer level camera, the new PowerShot G3 combines a 6-megapixel CCD chip with Forveon technology to create the most advanced camera to date. Now consumers can produce extremely high-quality digital photos at a very affordable price.

The Powershot G3 replaces the Powershot G2 which will not only be discontinued but will be rendered useless using Canon's patented Intelliburn technology. Current G2 users are advised to stay at least 20 feet away from their cameras during the launch of the G3 as their G2's may explode and cause small fires. Furthermore, the G3 will send out an infared beam that will destroy the processor in all remaining G2s.
