Can someone explain to me tripod heads?

I have a Slik Sprint Pro GM and I find it a hassle not being able to pull it out of the tripod when I need to, like a quick release plate. Is it possible to buy a quick release plate for this tripod? How do I find out? What else do I need to use a quick release plate? And how do I select one? :dunno:

try the manfrottto 323 quick release plate.

cost about $30. Should fit your tripod and camera. Best bet is to bring both tripod (actually the centre post is enough) and yoru camera to try it out.

Does your tripod come with a detachablre head. If so you can replace it with a Manfrotto ballhead. Although not like the actual quick release type (arca swiss design), it however, offer quick disengagement. The plate are also relatively cheap so you can mount them permanently or each cameras.

Manfrotto has a range from the simpler to the more sophisticated set. Choose one that meet your need and up to the max weight limit of your current tripod.
