Gd'day Guys,

I'm a complete newbie to photography, only messed around with my digital camera.

I need advice on purchase of camera.

What model is best for newbies? I wouldn't mind a 2nd hand set.

My budget is around 500 - 600.

I enjoy shooting sceneries as well as live concerts/band performance.

therefore, I am looking for a newbie cam, that works for all.

Your expert advise is much appreciated guys. Thank you so much!

Hans

I would suggest a search. There are about 1,000 threads like yours, with good advice.

That being said, for your requirements (concerts/band performances) you would need to invest in a good lens... Which is WAY beyond your budget.

I would suggest you get a point-and-shoot first and play with that until you are sure of what you really want (and have the budget for).

for your budget either everything 2nd-3rd hand for DSLR or go for a very capable PnS made for night shooting.

You might wanna consider getting a 2nd hand Olympus e-510 dual lens kit... I've seen some really good deals hovering about in clubsnap.

Btw I'm now using the e-520 with the default kit lenses and am very happy with it. I believe you will do well getting the e-510 for someone with a low budget =D.
