I think you went to the wrong place.

For such items, you should head down to electrical shops (i.e. BEST, Courts & Harvey Norman) to get it.
Should be able to find in many heartland areas.

Any shop selling AV equipment, or AV dept of any large electrical store sure got. Also many stores in SLS.

3.5mm stereo plug to RCA... eBay has hundreds of em from HK for a couple of bucks each.
