I think the weevil pic's focus should had been a little more down.

Focus at it's eye area, not the end of that stick thingy it's on.

I think your pics suffered a little of camera shake.. I like your composition. And certainly nice colours. Rich. Focus point is missing though..

If you are using Canon.. I think its focus points are pretty useful. My first hand use of the 350D was really pleasant.. its dotted focus point was so small, it could produce really pin sharp focused eyes of my close up subjects. Use it my friend to your advantage.

My 1 cent views though.. I don't get replies too.. for my pics. hee hee

hehe.. I also seldom get reply for my pics.
anyway your pics like mention - slight blur n out of focus on the main subject.
composition is good though, must be late nite activity, hand not steady.

nice bugs, you need to add some fill flash to bring out the details and add DOF and increase shutter speed.

BTW I sometimes also don't get comments as well. So take it easy.
