Budget Studio

Hello everyone.



I have to "prepare" a makeshift studio for my my unit to take some portrait shots. Would rent lightings but too bad my unit "ngiao". So erm, what can i use? I'll most probably be shooting with my 40D with 50 f1.8 II mounted on a tripod.

We've got some home-made backdrop already.

Help?

How do i explain it. Erm, actually i need to take quite a few headshots at the NDP site. We have a container to ourself. So, yea. HAHA.

Or is it better to use my 70-200 f4 to shoot the headshots?

Oh, if your container is painted white on the inside, I'll suggest just bounce flash with a short telephoto lens to do the trick.

Woo. Hmmm.. We've place some coloured backdrop so far. bounce the flash off the ceiling?

If you want lighting, can get DIY your own hotlights.

If not, just improvise on whatever lamps you can find in your house.
Or use the some speedlights with slave triggers or something.

Interesting read. If lets say if i just use my 430EX with Omnibounce? where to position?

it is very hot! hot! hot! and glaring for using continuous light source, if your container is not fully air con, your subject will be sweating very fast, and you will be sweating and shooting at the same time.

best is just use flash, aim your flash to the ceiling, let the light bounce down will do.

keep thing simple.

container is also quite narrow so you can use that to your advantage with the spill from your bounced light providing some fill from the left and right sides.
