Without skill:

Good lenses give you sharp lousy photos.

Good cameras give you huge low noise lousy photos.

I shoot lousy photos too.

All shots are lousy in comparison to the mighty Ortegandalf.

Yes, but to tell him to get an L lens when, based on his skill level, it would be a total waste of money, is just folly. :)

And what is his present skill level?
A lens that can provide an additional 2-stops of lights may prevent a blur image even in automatic mode.

If never answer the TS question, might as well don't post.

Because ts asked the same question in April, and provided no info as to why he thinks he needs to upgrade his body or lens. Still the same question, still the lack of reason.

Oh, and I *did* answer his question. I told him to get neither until his skill level improves. Once the skill level improves, he wont even need to ask this question.

And if he does get a lens with a 2-stop wider aperture but then does not know how to manage depth of field then comes back here asking why all the pictures he shot with his lens are all blurred... will you then be the one to handhold him and spoonfeed him?

That will be good practicals vs trying to understand the theories alone.
Newbies will most likely ask newbies type of question hoping for an answer.
I can't imagine primary school kids turning to Google for help.

Oh, you would be amazed at how good primary school kids are at using Google.

But for the same newbies to ask the same question over and over again shows a lack of absorption. Which might be a sign that maybe photography is not for him.

it would be better for those who'd love to help the newbies to help themselves first. READ all the previous post so that you'll understand how you can help. don't just come in, see the first post, then reply. you're not helping the TS in any way.

also, KK Lee. as yourself. if TS is a newbie asking such a question, how would he understand your analogy of 28mm and 24mm or where to stand, how to shoot. by just telling him "get an L Lens", how are you helping him?
